Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a residency program that had aspects of all parts of EM (academics, community and county), as well as ample opportunities to get involved with teaching.

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
The mentors!

Tell us about your residency classmates! How long did it take to connect?
My residency class is really close. I feel like we connected before orientation even started.

What has surprised you most about Pitt?
How much I loved the city

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
Low cost of living with lots to do and a ton of good food

Where did you choose to live, and why?
Squirrel Hill. It’s close to all the main hospitals and feels suburban with a nearby park.

What advice would you give to incoming residents about moving to the 'Burgh?
You can get almost anywhere in the city in 15 minutes so don’t feel like you need to live where everyone else in your class is living.
