Dr. Yealy is the recipient of the 2012 McEllroy Award. This award is presented annually by the Medical Alumni Association to an outstanding non-alumnus who undertook residency training at UPMC and honors achievements in the field of medicine. He received the award at the annual Reunion Weekend, Friday, May 18. Dr. Yealy has been recognized as an award-winning researcher and educator, as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
