Rachel Ibrahim, MD (She/Her)

I was surprised at how willing other specialty services were willing to teach down in the Emergency Department. It's great to have such a supportive community that is always offering to help you learn.

Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
Broad exposure to diverse pathology,  high volume, nationally recognized faculty, exposure to academic and community medicine and great collegiality

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
There is very broad pathology with exposure to highly specialized diseases ranging from transplant patients to rare toxidromes. The faculty are amazing to work with and really love to teach!

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
There is always something to do! It's a huge sports city and nothing beats the views.

Where did you choose to live, and why?
I chose to live in Lawrenceville because it is close to all the UPMC hospitals and has a great set of restaurants and activities nearby.

Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to incoming applicants about moving to the 'Burgh?
Take a tour around the city! It's absolutely beautiful! And the people in Pittsburgh are kind and welcoming.
